Building Blocks

Building Blocks

All ideas are made up of component parts. Before you shape up the final idea, first deconstruct it into its different facets by listing out all of the various aspects. This will help you reconstruct the idea in a new and better way.

A to B

A to B

A great way to tell compelling stories is by taking your listener on a journey. When you structure this journey, start with what they are thinking right now. Then think about where you want them to end up. Then simply determine the best way of getting them from A to B.

Paint a Picture

Paint a Picture

When explaining ideas to others, paint a clear picture in their minds. Use metaphors to create a lateral link. Anchor your idea in an analogy or example they’re familiar with. And of course, use actual images to support your words.

In their Language

In their Language

Speaking the same language is critical. This is true for native tongues, but also for different groups of people. Is your message aimed at the board or a customer? Are you talking to a teenager or an old lady? Then use whatever words, phrases and tone they usually use.

Cut it Out

Cut it Out

Less is always more! Cut out all the filler words. Eliminate any jargon. Only focus on the essential elements you want to get across. And make sure your message can stand alone without the need for further explanation.
